Presenters: Rachelle Burns, MA (Chair & Founder, EscaRosa Suicide Prevention Coalition) and Lauren Anzaldo, EdD, LCSW, CAP (Community Engagement & Partnership Coordinator, Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System)

This session addresses key challenges identified in our December 2024 survey, including limited time, training gaps, and resource awareness for suicide risk assessment. Participants will learn effective screening approaches, practical tools, warning sign identification, and appropriate intervention resources.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify approaches to patient mental health screening (universal, selective, indicated)
  • Learn about validated mental health screening tools
  • Recognize warning signs of mental health challenges
  • Match appropriate resources to patients based on risk assessment
