Exploring Healthcare Through Play

The Escambia County Medical Society Foundation, in a visionary partnership with the University of West Florida Historic Trust, proudly presents the Escambia County Medical Society Foundation Kid’s Clinic. Located on the second floor of the Pensacola Children’s Museum, this permanent exhibit is designed to demystify medical experiences for children, transforming visits to the doctor into familiar and enjoyable explorations.

Interactive Learning and Fun

Crafted with care, the Kid’s Clinic features a variety of "medical stations" — from a child-sized ambulance equipped with lights and sirens to a fully outfitted doctor's office, operating and exam tables, and even a CT scanner. These hands-on experiences, complemented by dolls serving as "patients," allow children to engage in role-playing activities. They can drive the ambulance, navigate through various examination stations, and step into the shoes of healthcare professionals with lab coats, fostering a comfortable and playful environment around medical equipment.

A Community Effort

The creation of this exhibit has been a monumental community effort, supported by nearly $100,000 in donations from local medical groups. The ECMS Foundation took the lead in fundraising, alongside significant contributions from major donors including Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart, Pensacola Pediatrics, and Touchstone Medical Imaging.

Escambia County Medical Society Foundation celebrates the exhibit's launch as a step towards cultivating a positive healthcare mindset among children. This initiative aims not only to ease the apprehension associated with medical visits but also to inspire an early interest in healthcare professions, laying the foundation for a healthier, more informed future generation.
